Need help with finding yarn

My 5 yr old dd wants a “rainbow” pattern poncho. She doesn’t want stripes; but wants the colors to “blend in” (blotchy). Is there such thing out there? I am not going to join colors manually - it’s too much for a beginner. Please help pick a yarn if there is such thing out there.

Thanks in advance

What’s your budget? Red Heart Kids or Super Saver has a rainbowy-variegated yarn

Lorna’s Laces, also has some really pretty rainbow colorways like Child’s Play and Rainbow

Any price range will be fine. Thanks.

:figureditout: I have an idea, you guys should dye your own yarn with Kool-Aid! I think a 5-year-old would be able to help out and she would be so proud wearing something that she helped “make.”

Dying is a good idea. I would do that if I had the time to, but I have put it off at a low priority list for the time being. I have the time to knit, however, on the train. Thanks for the advise though.

Caron Simply Soft has SHadows. It’s really lovely. I saw it today at Michael’s. It’s similar to the Trekking sock yarn the softly blends up and down.

Edit: sorry about the double post, don’t know what happened.

I used SS Shadows for a Clapotis and didn’t like it as much as I though I would. Since only one ply of the four is variegated, the color change wasn’t as distince as true variegated yarn. There’s a lot of self striping yarn out there, bound to be something you and your daughter would like.
