Need help with Baby Bootie pattern

I’m knitting this pattern: http://www.saartjeknits.nl/ ( It’s the baby booties in the Free Pattern section on the right side of the page)

Things are going along well, except the directions for the straps have me confused.

…Row 21-23 K
Row 24 K10, BO 21, K10
[B]Right Strap: Row 25: K10, CO 10 using longtail cast on and second strand of of CC as the thumb strand, cut second strand leaving 8" tail:shrug: [/B]
Row 26-27 K20

I have tried several different COs but am still unable to acheive the strap.

Any help will be appreciated.

The cast-on stitches are the edge of the strap. When you knit back the 20 stitches, you’ll be knitting the strap stitches and the previous 10.

I remember recently someone had exactly the same problem on this pair of booties. Someone offered a link to another pair of booties that look the same but I constructed differently. Maybe you could do a search and find it.
