Repeat Rows 2-16 once more.
Next Row [RS]: K10. Break yarn.

The K means knit and the number is the number of stitches then you turn to work on the other side. If this is your first entrelac it’ll all make sense after you’ve done a bit.

Thanks… Double thanks for replyin so fast
yes this is my first work with enterlac… hope u dont mind if i ask few more qs…
so after Co… i do K2 and turn the side… and out of those two knits… i slip one and purl1… and then using the cast on stitches i K3 and so forth

is tht correct?

Also a further q… it says break yarn after section 1 and section2 starts with a CC1… so shud this yarn be joined to the broken yarn?

Correct. It looks really weird at first, but just keep going.

Do you mean with with the broken yarn and the new color? Probably better if you don’t so the color blocks will stay pure (all one color), but yes, you can do that if you want to. If not just start knitting and you can weave in the ends later. Must be a million of them on that scarf. :zombie:

ETA: there are other joining methods under the video section… tips or advanced techniques. Keep in mind though that each square is a different color so the area you start knitting each one should be the new color.

Yes, that’s right. If you’re going to use a 2nd color of yarn, just leave a tail a few inches long to weave in when you’re done. With the yarn you ‘break’ (you can just cut it) also leave a tail. The sts won’t pull out. And if you just use one color of yarn, like a multicolor, you don’t have to cut the yarn, just keep going with it on to the next section.

Thanks a lot guys
about the joinin… i have been using felting method… so when the pattern said break the yarn… and then start with new color… i was confused… instead i can just join the two yarns and continue rt?

No. This isn’t the same as adding a new yarn end when you finish a skein. If you join them the way you’re proposing, then the old color will still be on a few sts of the new block. Just leave the tails dangling and start knitting with the new color. After you’ve finished the first block with the new color, you can loosely tie the ends together or go ahead and weave them in.

When I have done felted joins and didn’t want the old color to show I cut the yarn and then split the plies down to the needle. Then I tinked back till I had enough to felt the join which was quite a few… maybe a dozen? Then I felted the join to the bottom of the split plies since that is where you’d start the new color. Then I knit and the new color should start on the new block give or take half a stitch. It’s kind of knitpicky and takes time, but if you don’t want to weave in later you could try it on one block and see if works. Or better yet…on a sample beforehand so you don’t mess up what you’ve done so far if it doesn’t work out.

thanks a lot… Jan in CA… there is a video on tht join isnt it? i have doe tht for scarves with two colors as I am not v comfortable with weavin

Yes, it’s under Knitting Tips in the video section.

Thanks Jan… so i will join the thread and continue instead of breaking…
But I just want to confirm before continuing… about the following instruction
Note: Directions for Center Square and Right Edge Triangle will instruct you to pick up sts along the edge of a square. The first time you work Section 1, you will be picking these sts up along the edges of the Base Triangles.
Center Square:
Pick up and p 10 sts along edge of square adjacent to right needle. Slip last picked-up st to left needle, p2tog.

What does “pick up” mean?

It means to pick up sts on your right needle from the edges. There’s a video near the bottom of the Tips page that shows how.
