Need Help With a DUH! Question

I’m attempting my first wearable cardigan. I have the back done, and am doing the left front. I’m to the neck shaping. It says:purl first 8 stitches & slip to a stitch holder (done) purl remaining stitches. It doesn’t say so, but I assume I need to attach a second ball of yarn to the remaining stitches?? Can you tell I don’t know what I’m doing LOL Also, you can decide which side you want for the right side when you sew the shoulder seams. When I did this left front, it said to work 11" end with wrong side row which I did. But if I use the side I want for the front, it looks like this will be the right side front. In the instructions for the right front it says to bind off first 4 stitches as if to purl, and that is a wrong side row too. Won’t that give me 2 left fronts as far as the armholes go?? I’m sooooo confused!! HELP!!

No you would slip them after you purl them so the yarn is ready to do the rest of the sts. Right front and left front are as you wear the sweater, not as you look at it.

Like I said a DUH!! question!!! Didn’t even cross my mind to purl them first. Thanks so much. When I get to the picking up stitches part, I’ll really drive you crazy!

You skipped over that part in the pattern - p8 and slip onto a holder…

We all do that.

I love “duh” questions…always learn something!!!
