Need help finishing front of hoodie sweater

I am knitting a hoodie sweater for my husband. I am finishing the front of the sweater. I have finished shaping the neck opening, but do not understand the last 3 sentences:

Work even until same length as Back to shoulder.
Work 3-needle bind off on 25 stitches for each shoulder seam
Bind off center Back 30 stitches.

Does that make sense to you? Any help much appreciated!

It probably told you to leave the shoulder sts of the back on a holder instead of binding off. Work the fronts to the same length as the back shoulder, then do a 3 needle BO on 25 sts to make a shoulder seam, starting from the armhole edge. Then continue on with the yarn to BO 30 sts in the center of the back. There’s a video for 3 needle BO on the Tips page under Finishing.

thanks so much! I still have no idea what that means, but I will watch the video–that will probably help alot!

The 3-needle bind off is very simple … it will all make sense once you watch the video to see it demonstrated. If you run into trouble, just let us know and someone will be able to clarify!

Good luck! :knitting:

It should make sense once you get there. Or use some left over yarn, make 2 quick little pieces, maybe 10 sts each for 5 or 6 rows, and practice with them.

3 needle bind off is very easy to do and this will all make sense one you look at it and have it in front of you. Plus I really love the seam that a 3 needle bind off gives you.

Agreed … Great shoulder seam! You’ll love the look it gives your finished sweater.
