I have found this item for sale. It is hand knitted. Does anyone know this pattern
it is a cot blanketI havenāt seen exactly the same but there are several which are similar. Do you knownjow to do a Web search for this image? I did that and changed the search criteria to ācot blanketā which had quite a few results. Takes a bit of searching through the images to check whatnis similar.
Here are a couple of results
There are lots and each a little different.
The one you posted is particularly lovely. The yarn choice, colour selection and neatness of finishing and blocking have really made it extra special.
Hope you find something you like or something you can relatively easily adapt. I see this one also has a beautiful boarder. Itās gorgeous!
The lady who makes this makes it from her head. Some people are so clever.
Thank you for your search. I will try both of your ideas and then look at her design and see if I can get close
This type of square was often used in what was called a counterpane. If you search for that term, you will find a few more patterns. I think it was first popular in Victorian times.
Tincanknits sells a similar pattern they are on Instagram and ravelry ect the leaf is wider and flatter but the yarn and needle choice would be explicit.
The photo is a screenshot of their Instagram,
I have looked at everyoneās responses and ideas and after trying different searches and free pattern sites I have found it - almost exactly. Now trying to find out what wool she uses to get that pearl type finish. Has to be a double knit. Anyone knit with this type of wool?
Do you mean the colour variation? Thatās probably a semi-solid or tonal dye method on superwash wool.
No I mean the lovely pearlised sheen to the wool. It has to be a double knit
You would have to look for a yarn that has a nice sheen, in that case. It could come from it being superwash, smoothly spun (worsted spun), or even the addition of silk. Unfortunately, this isnāt really an attribute that you can search on anywhere, unless it is mentioned in a review or yarn description from the retailer.
I would suggest contacting your LYS or your usual online retailer and asking the staff for recommendations for āa DK yarn with a nice sheen to itā if you canāt go and look at yarn in person.
Or you could start a new thread here (to catch peopleās eye) asking for that recommendation. Make sure to include which country you live in so you get recommendations that will be easily available. Hope you find something nice!
Hi
Do you mean the yarn used is the original picture you posted?
You mention the pearl type finish but it looks quite matt to me, and soft. Itās not really got a sheen.
It has a lovely stitch definition.
I think I might try a square in what I usually use because itās going to need to take a pounding in a washing machine. At least then I know it can be washed over and over and will keep its shape, itās colour, and always look pretty good. I am worried that if I try something a bit fancy it might not wash as well.
Definitely, I started think alpaca and mulberry silk ect but thatās all delicate wash. My youngest favourite blanket was fingering weight real wool was not super wash as it was actually a vintage blanket I bought at a church sale and had saved for awhile. Well not only was it hard to wash she tore it to pieces with her teeth when she started teething.
