Need help again ...please bear with me

I asked about the patternFenceawhile back and some of you tried to help me (thank you), but I am still confused. I do understand a little better, but what is still confusing me is the instructions for the neck. It seems like the more I read them the more confused I get. The pattern instructions say:
Split for Neck (RS): Work 6 (7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15) sts, rejoin new yarn, BO 23 (25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37) sts, work 6 (7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15)
Then it gives instructions for all sizes --there are parenthesis giving different numbers—regarding the Left Neck, Right Neck, and Front Neck. THEN, farther down it does different sections for different sizes and has instructions with the same headings (split for neck, right neck, left neck, front neck) . I would say that this is just repeating the same instructions, except that there is a difference in the RIGHT NECK instructions that seem to cover all sizes and the ones specific to the size 36 which I will be knitting. Here are the instructions that seem to cover all sizes:
Right Neck
Row 1 (WS): Purl
Row 2 (RS): Knit
Row 3 (WS): BO 3 (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) sts, p3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 5, 5)
Work even in st st until piece measure 1½” from Back Neck edge. Place rem sts on stitch holder or safety pin.

Here are the instructions specific to the size 36:
Right Neck
Row 1 (and all WS rows): P
Row 2: BO 4 (4, 5) sts, work to end of row .
Work evenly for 2 rows.
Rows 5, 9, 15 (Dec Row): Ssk, work to end of row.

:wall: Please, please help me. I have tried copying and pasting this pattern to MS Word to rearrange it so I can understand, but I keep hanging up on what seems to be repeating instructions. But even though it seems they are repeating, they are different. :wall:
Thank you for your patience.

It says - You will now follow separate instructions for the front and the back. So you’re going to do them separately after this. You’ve got them jumbled together.

The first set of instructions you wrote above cover just the back, so follow them until you have both R and L sides. Then you work the front when the length is correct. That’s the second set of instructions you put in and they cover sizes 32, 36, 40

Thank you so much for helping me. I did not even see that sentence that says “you will now follow separate instructions.”

Some things are easy to over look. Like inc/dec at each end of the row.

I went back and read the pattern and I know now why I missed this instruction line. It is in the section “Short Version” which I didn’t read because I am going to do the “Long Version”. I don’t see that line of instructions in the Long Version (unless I am overlooking them again :whoosh: ) . Can I just assume that I will go to separate instructions for front and back after I do the section labeled - Back (Long Version)?

It’s just put in after the instructions for the Short Version, that doesn’t mean it pertains only to that. It means that whichever you do, you’re still going to work the back and front separately.
