I’ve sewed a sweater on a sewing machine before. I didn’t have anyproblems. Just make sure you have the right kind of foot so it can go over the yarn since its thicker than a lot of other fabrics. Keep in mind that it will look different than hand sewing it with yarn.
I wouldn’t recommend it, but I haven’t tried it so I can’t say definitively. I know I wouldn’t do it though. Here’s a recent thread about it.
