Need answers about using this yarn

One of my daughters wants some chenille type house socks, that look like this:

minus the little skid zappers on the bottom, and, I want to use this type of yarn,
It was on sale:

Her foot measures 10 1/4 inches. This chenille recommends a size 11 needle, but, I think I can use a size 7 or 8. Now, how many stitches do I cast on? I’m math impaired, :stuck_out_tongue:
So, how many stitches do I cast on with this baby chenille, using size 7 or 8 dpns?

Here’s a link I found on how to figure cast on stitch numbers for any size yarn. Hope it helps.

Size 7 or 8 might be a little tight with that yarn, maybe a 9 or 10. Work up a swatch with all the different needle sizes in one and see which seems like it will get you the texture/fabric you want.

Yuck. Swatches. But, they’re necessary to do, to save time and problems later.

Time for coffee! STONE CREEK COFFEE IS THE BEST!
It puts allll others to shame.

No sour taste, no bitter aftertaste, just smooth, coffee taste.
It tastes as good as it smells.
I like Red Sky, and Ethiopian Fair trade, (i think that’s what it’s called)

You can call it a sampler… I don’t do formal swatches, but CO a small number of sts for a pattern to see how it looks in the yarn or needles I choose and go from there.
