Need advise for socks

I am trying to knit a child’s sock…but there’s alot in the pattern I don’t understand. Pardon me as I am still very new in knitting…

really hope that I can succeed in my very first sock for my bb…

here’s what I don’t understand:

  1. SW - It says slip and wrap but I don’t know how to do it…
  2. K1 P1 Rib (Even number of sts) Rnd 1 (*K1, P1; rep from * to end. Rep Rnd 1 for K1, P1 rib)- Is this just K1 P1 all the way til the length required?
  3. Grafting - Any video to show?

for shape heel, I don’t understand what the pattern means for the following:

  1. Change to A and K15 sts for heel. leaving remaining sts unworked - what does it mean leaving ‘unworked’?
  2. Row1 (WS): P14, SW next st, turn
  3. Continue to rep last 2 rows, having 1 st less before SW on each row, until 8 sts have been worked.
  4. Rep last 2 rows, adding 1 more st before SW on each row until 15 sts have been worked.
  5. end last rnd 7 sts before beg of rnd marker and move beg of rnd marker to this point

Sorry for the many many qns above!

wanted to try Silver’s sock but i think the pattern is for adult size… :frowning:

  1. SW - It says slip and wrap but I don’t know how to do it…
Slip, wrap and turn translates to: knit side - bring the yarn in front, slip the next stitch purl-wise, bring the yarn behind the slipped stitch and then place the slipped stitch back onto the left hand needle. Then turn your work and proceed to the next line. purl side - bring the yarn in back, slip the next stitch knit-wise, bring the yarn in front of the slipped stitch and then place the slipped stitch back onto the left hand needle. Then turn your work and proceed to the next line. It is important to slip this stitch knit-wise so when they are worked together the stitch on top is not twisted.

  2. K1 P1 Rib (Even number of sts) Rnd 1 (*K1, P1; rep from * to end. Rep Rnd 1 for K1, P1 rib)- Is this just K1 P1 all the way til the length required? Yes

  3. Grafting - Any video to show? Yes, here, just scroll down to finishing and click on Kitchenering

for shape heel, I don’t understand what the pattern means for the following:

  1. Change to A and K15 sts for heel. leaving remaining sts unworked - what does it mean leaving ‘unworked’? Don’t knit them – this is usually where you turn your work.

  2. Row1 (WS): P14, SW next st, turn Turning means you don’t work the stitches after your slip and wrap. Basically, you are ingnoring the stitches after the wrap and pretending you are at the end of the needle. If you have just finished a purl row you literally turn your needle around and knit back to the beginning.

  3. Continue to rep last 2 rows, having 1 st less before SW on each row, until 8 sts have been worked. On the last row you P14 and SW, then you knit back to the beginning. Then you will P13 and SW, knit the next row and then P12 until you have wrapped 8 times.

  4. Rep last 2 rows, adding 1 more st before SW on each row until 15 sts have been worked. I’m not sure what the rest of the instructions are here so I can’t help

5) end last rnd 7 sts before beg of rnd marker and move beg of rnd marker to this point Knit until you are 7 stitches away from marker and move the marker to where you finished knitting
