Need advice on icord bind off

Hi everyone I’m just about finished with Sheep Happens cardigan…I made cardigan with steek down middle planning on picking up buttonband and doing 2x2 rib. My question is would it look good with icord bind off. I was think to continue icord around neckline. Any advice would be helpful. https://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=8674&cid=17

How wide is your steek and are you going to fold it back or incorporate those steek stitches inside the i-cord somehow?

Steek is 7 stitches wide and i will fold it back and tack it down by hand. I was thinking of using icord for bind off edging. After 2x2 ribbing for buttonband

Ah, ok. Yes the i-cord at the edge is a very nice finish.
It’s a very cute pattern. I’ve worked the child size a couple of times for friends’ children and loved it.

You might consider an Icelandic bindoff. It looks a lot like an I cord but is thinner.

Norman does it without the twist, which makes it faster.

I’ve tried both methods and don’t find a lot of difference in stretchiness between doing it with or without the twist.

I’m not sure I’d ever seen it done with a twist. I’ll have to try it and see what difference it makes. Thanks for this.

That’s how I learned to do it first, but it’s rather a lot faster without the twist, as you replace the loop onto the left needle and then you’re already in position to grab the next stitch.
