Need advice and opinions!

I made the Placed Cable Aran from IK fall for my friend for Christmas. It’s not up on the IK website, I will post of pic of it later. I haven’t been happy with the cowl neck - my gauge and measurements are right but the neck looks like a scrunchy turtleneck that doesn’t fit right. In the ,agazine pic it is a beautiful drapey cowl neck. I had here try it on yesterday and it’s awful. I have done the neck twice - first according to the pattern and then all on size 10’s. No good. So I’m thinking that I should just do some other sort of neckline so I can actually give her the sweater while it’s still cold enough to wear it!

Does anyone have any suggestions of how? I was wondering if I could do a snug turtleneck in 4x4 ribbing to match the sleeves, but I’m not sure how to go about it - the neckhole seems to be set up for a larger neckline. I know the easiest thing to do would be to just knit a few rounds for a rolled edge and be done with it but I don’t know how that would look. Any thoughts?

I looked it up on Ravelry, and someone made the modification you mentioned – 4x4 ribbing for the neck. It’s gorgeous: Aran Sweater

Unfortunately the modifications are in another language!

And here’s a photo of someone who just did plain ribbing for the neck.

That turtleneck is beautiful - wish I could read how she did it! I think I will do plain ribbing for the neck, thank you!
