Need a really quick afghan pattern!

Hi,

I’m looking for suggestions for a super-quick afghan for a last minute gift. Probably something chunky/heavy weight knit on big needles or something, but I don’t want it to be too boring (aka garter stitch) since it’ll only be one color.

Anybody have an recommendations?
Thanks!

I made a baby blanket in an afternoon with this pattern, but it might be too bulky for an afghan. Basically it’s 4 strands of worsted weight on size 35 needles. A block pattern with a garter edging. So five garter stitches at both sides, blocks of 5 knits and 5 purls for 5 rows and then reverse the blocks. Goes really fast!

The one i am doing right now i
cast on about 130 stitches,
knit 5 rows,
row 6 Knit 3, yo K2tog repeat until there are two or three stitches left and knit.
repeat until it is as long as you want and end with the 5 rows. and of course bind off.

if i had more time it would be further done but it is going fairly quick. i am doing it on size 15s with 2 strands of sport weight.

They make a size 35 needle??? Holy Moly! And I thought my 15s were on the crazy-big side. heh.

Thanks for both of these responses, they sound like great options.

 The 35’s are about an inch across. Odd to knit with, but fast!

I have a pattern from Mary Maxim that I have many several.

Looks difficult, works up fast.

Simple to do…I hope you like it.

My humble appologize re the writing all over this pattern…

The Lion Brand Speed Stix are SIZE 50 (25 MM)! Might as well sharpen off a pair of broomsticks and knit with those!
