Neckline Crisis please help

Hi I hope this message finds everyone well! I was working on my turtleneck neckline, made a few mistakes and ripped out my needles to restart. On the sweater backside I had my neckline placed on stitch holders, 26 stitches. When I ripped out I successfully placed my front neckline back on the stitch holders, but on the backside something went wrong. The first and last stitch are not right and I don’t know how to fix it. I am attaching an image, if anyone has advice please share! Thank you so much everyone.

here is my pattern: https://www.freevintageknitting.com/free-sweater-patterns/star92/mens-turtleneck-sweater-pattern

If that helps, thanks

There’s a couple of things I can think of to try.
You might pick up an extra stitch at the sides of the neck when you pick up sts on the needle for the collar. When you get to the sts for the back of the neck, slip the long edge sts at each side onto the stitch next to them on the holder (making a kind of k2tog).
Alternatively, you might leave the edge sts on the holder as is, pick up for the collar and close any hole later after the collar is worked. It would be similar to this technique.

Thank you! I had seen this tutorial as well, and I thought maybe they were just dropped stitches on the end but when I added a stitch on top it still looked off, ended up ripping out the work and I have since corrected it, thank you!

That’s really the best solution, however painful it may be.
Your knitting looks lovely. Please post a photo when you finish and enjoy!
