I’ve only been learning how to knit for a short time and today I started introducing slipped stitches into my very small repertoire. I checked out YouTube tutorials and now know how to slip a stitch but I can’t figure out what happens next in my pattern.
The project is a pretty basic knit belt with slipped stitch edging. Pattern is as follows:
- Cast on 9 sts.
- Knit first 6 sts, bring yarn forward, then slip last 3 sts as if to purl.
- Repeat row 2 until desired length, then bind off.
For something that seems so easy, I am so confused. After I knit the first 6 stitches and slip the last 3, the working yarn is 3 stitches down the right needle. Then, if I knit the next row as instructed anyway, I’m left with something that just has to be wrong.
I think I’m missing something. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
