i have this vintage handbag, and am trying to find the yarn used to make it. it looks almost like hoisery or nylon, and is not cotton, but a nylon material. when stretched flat, the width is almost one inch. thanks for looking!
Yes, looks like band material of some sort and not a yarn as such at all. Intriguing!
It looks like the little loops that kids use to make those woven potholders.
I agree they look like potholder loops.
I’ve seen places where you can buy them “au natural” and dye them yourself.
And was it in the Mason Dixon knitting book they suggested cutting up T-shirts in little circles to mimic potholder loops?
For me it looks like a band which is used to border the edges of blankets/afghans. Similar to bias tape.
I can’t find the name for it because I don’t know the German word for this tape
