Mystery pattern!

Hi guys,

I’m new to knitting and want to expand my project repertoire. I found this picture of a hat that I’d like to make: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mBW-aBec_Dk/TdRFzqGqy8I/AAAAAAAABSM/vSz9hFHFe4M/s1600/tumblr_lkolrpie591qhn3ago1_500.jpg

After doing some googling, I’m pretty sure it’s an entrelac pattern, but would love if someone could confirm it. Also, there seem to be these little pinches at the center of each overlapping section where they increased or decreased or something. Any advice on how to recreate the look?

Thanks,

Leah

PS: here’s another example of the pinched sections - http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/c/0/0/77/b/AAAADPsmRA4AAAAAAHewXg.jpg?v=1254854046000

You’re right, it’s an entrelac hat. A search on Ravelry brought up dozens of patterns.

The pinched area often happens with this stitch pattern but is usually blocked out to even the rectangles.

Awesome, thanks for the info!

Entrelac is pretty cool and it’s not that difficult. I found the initial learning of it a bit frustrating but I do that with most new things I learn. If you search for entrelac on youtube there are some good videos including one on doing it seamless (in the round) that you might find helpful.
