Got my yarn for my step-mom’s winter set yesterday. Was having a tough time deciding between the scrunchable pattern, or the my so called scarf one. So, I cast on a few stitches and knit up little samples. With the help of my DBF, I decided on the my so called scarf pattern. Found here.
Worked on it at work today. Got about 10 inches done. Out of the 60 I have to do.
The yarn is Plymouth Encore Worsted Colorspun #7304. I this yarn!! It feels so great! I can’t remember who recommended it to me, but I love you!!
Someday I’ll get a camera that takes good pictures so I can stop saying that the colors are off. It’s not as green in person. And much more vibrant. First pic is closer to the actual color.
I am soooooo in love with this yarn. I want to make everything out of it.
There’s actually already a number of little mis-stitches. But I doubt anyone will be able to notice.
I was originally going to add a pattern to it (don’t know if you remember me asking you about it) but I decided not to since the yarn I get was already multicolored.
Glad you like the Encore. I have used it in the past for my BIL’s hat that I made him for Christmas and I loved working with it. I’m not sure if I was the one that recommended it to you or not, but it is great doing a project when you really like the yarn you are working with. I find it is a lot funner to do!
I’ve wanted to make this scarf but I’m Having a hard time with the second row
*P2tog, do not slip stitches off the needle, purl the first stitch again, slip both stitches off needle
How exactly do I do this.
Please help I’ve been trying all eve and I’m just doing something wrong
Purl the 2 stitches together (but don’t slip them off the left needle) > you now have one stitch on your right needle
Take your right needle and insert it through the first stitch on the left hand needle and purl that one stitch again.
Now you have 2 stitches on the right hand needle and can slip the 2 purl stitches off the left.
If that’s not helpful or more confusing let me know and I can try to get some pics taken for you.
Edit: OK, so I was bored and took some pics anyway.
I accidentally deleted one, but it was just showing the p2tog.
I colored the stitches too, so it’s a little easier to see what’s going on. (I think so anyway.)
The red ones are the stitches you’re purling together/into and the blue ones are the new stitches you’re making.
The lighter ones are the first stitches and the darker ones are the second stitches.
Starting to p2tog:
Made first stitch on right needle > go back into first purl on left needle:
Wrap yarn around right needle purl wise:
Pull yarn through - at this point both the 2 new stitches and 2 old stitches are still on the needles:
Slip 2 old stitches off left needle:
Ta da! P2tog, purl into first stitch again. It’s as easy at that.
I guess I wouldn’t really say it looks like a wrap, but yes, you end up with 2 stitches. p2tog is a decrease so they have you purl again to make sure there’s still 2 stitches on the needles. Otherwise the scarf would taper down, and it wouldn’t really be much of a scarf, if you ask me.
So glad I helped. I was worried I had too much going on in the pics, but I like lots of pics and color coding stuff always works well for me. Glad it helped you too.
When I was first test swatching the pattern, I did about 7 rows and looked at it and it just did NOT look right. So I looked at the pattern and realized I had done 7 rows of row 1. :rofling:
After I realized that and added on the row 2 it looked much better.
