I was in the drug store the other day and picked up some tiny hair clips–the ones with teeth–to use for knitting. I have to say that they work great! I’ve used them for holding pieces of knitting together for seaming, and also for marking where to do buttonholes. The little buggers went around the cable and moved with the yarn.
So cheap yet so useful. I can imagine using them to mark a spot on the edge, or to signify the front, or mark a center stitch. They stay put and don’t snag the wool.
They’re great anywhere the fabric may be in a stress. Helps hold it together till you can get to it. Plus they clip to the fabric so they’re always handy.
Yes, Jan. They are [SIZE=1]tiny[/SIZE] as hair clips go. They’re in the normal hair care isle–the ones I got came in a little plastic bag with the clips on cardboard. The bag itself is almost worth the money–it’s tough and it snaps so it’s perfect for storing them.

The clippies are also great for ‘try ons’. In this photo, I had to see exactly how far down the shoulders would ‘drop’ in order to determine the right sleeve length! I hate mountain gorilla sleeves!
