My ribbing is not working correctly. The purls are up and the Knits are down

I’ve ribbed a lot of things before but this past week everything i have been ribbing is turning out that the purls are sticking up and the knits are receding down. It’s all reversed and not a very attractive look. I’ve tried starting with knit, starting with purl. it’s turning out backward anyways and it’s like this on any size needle. i don’t get it. can someone please help.

I’ve never heard of that happening… :?? Can you post a picture so we can see and maybe help figure it out better?

How many rows do you have? Sometimes it takes a few inches for the rib pattern to look right. Also, how many sts of purl and knit; are they equal to each other, or uneven, and what are you making?

I was making a small sweater on size 1 dpns for a plush i have. I think since i only knitted four rows of 2x2 rib it came out funky.
I just tried it on size 7 needles and after 6 rows it started looking normal. the previous rib projects i did i never took notice to how it looked before i got far into it. Thanks, i figured it out now.

It’s probably the small needle size that made it look like that until you had more rows done.
