My Lucky Day

I just got this forwarded e-mail from the organizer of a volunteer group I work with.

"I have been decluttering and getting ready to have a yard sale in a couple of weeks. I have been hoarding yarn over the years and not really knitting much. I have a HUGE trash bag STUFFED with yarn of all colors and types (cotton, wool, acrylic). I know there are a lot of knitters in the group and wanted to offer if here before the yard sale. I am asking $35 for the bag (at least 50 skeins, if not more!) " emphasis added

:noway: :passedout: I immediately e-mailed that I’ll take it. I don’t even care what kind - $35 for 50 +skeins!!! I am picking the haul up on Sunday. I’ll post the yarn porn soon cloud9 :woot: :cheering: :yay: :happydance: :woohoo:

:passedout: Awesome!!

what luck!! congrats !!

If you wouldn’t have taken it, I would have. And many others as well

Good buy!

I can’t wait to see the yarnporn

You have got a great find! If I hadn’t just increased my yarn stash I would go to yard sales for something like that!

Congrats!! Sounds like you hit the motherload!!

Have any of you tried You can give away or find just about anything…but what you get rid of or what you find has to be free…it’s a great site to get rid of stuff you no longer want or need.

Wow nice! I am a great believer that what you put out you get back so this is your reward for the time, energy and effort you put into that vounteering. Enjoy!

Actually, the website is Freecycle.ORG…not Com. You can go there and sign up for a city you live in or are near and either post something you need (for free) or something you need to get rid of (for free). It’s a great site to recycle. Of course, you should never put something on there that’s truly junk and should be thrown away…you’d be amazed at what you can find.

When it works, Freecycle is great, but be aware that maybe one out of ten (and that’s generous) people who reply to an offer actually come to get it. Over two or three years I’ve offered everything from fill dirt to plants and have had exactly one person come to pick stuff up and one who finally did call to arrange delivery. Apparently, a lot of people just can’t resist asking for something even if they don’t really want it.
