My first two yarns!

I wanted to post these here now that I have pictures. They are a bit twisty, but I have been informed that I can get that evened out by setting it with some weight on the bottom. I’ve already set it, though, so can I reset it? Also, any feedback is appreciated!

Thanks!
Chris

they look beautiful!!! I love the colors!!!

Oh, how beautiful!!! I am right in assuming it is not plied? You are necessarily going to have some twist or energy that will NOT settle out if it is not plied, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I would suggest winding it into a ball and knitting a swatch to see how you like the effect. You will probably be surprised at what lovely fabric it will make.

(You CAN re-wet it and hang to dry weighted, but if it gets wet, it will re-energize.) Before you go to all that trouble, I would try the swatch. It is a really lovely yarn, and I think it will work well as is!

GREAT JOB. WOO HOO!! :cheering: :cheering:

Really! I didn’t ply my first twisty skein because it was so twisty! I was guessing that would make plying harder! Guess I should have plied it, huh?

The skeins are so pretty! I love the deep red of the first skein. So very pretty!

Since the singles are plied in the opposite direction the singles are spun (treadle the wheel to go in the opposite direction), the plying takes out or evens out the extra twist. So then, you end up with a balanced yarn, more or less. And it you have a tensioned lazy kate, it makes those twisty singles easier to deal with. If not, try putting the lazy kate a distance away from you, and that will tension the singles somewhat.

THis is the red. Check out the rest of her auctions, they are insanely cheap…especially when you think about how much it costs to buy Lamb’s Pride vs. spinning it yourself.

I think I am goign to spin some more of that red today and put it up as my first offering on my site! http://www.beadsandpurls.com
