Does anyone have any idea what kind of spinning wheel this is and if it seems like I would need to buy any parts to it from a first glimpse…I have never spun before at all but have had an interest in it so my fiance being the sweetheart that he is bought this for me off of a guy in work who’s wife works in real estate. He bought it for me as he had seen me looking at wheels online that right now we just cannot afford as we are saving for a wedding and a downpayment on our first house so he quickly said “I will take it” and the guy said okay 25 bucks as he nor his wife know nothing about spinning wheels…He actually called it “USELESS” saying all he could see useing it for would be scrap wood…hmph what does he know…but I am happy he feels that way about it as now I get to have it and feed it some fiber:teehee:
My first spinning wheel!
Not an expert or anything, but it looks a bit like the Haldane I had lessons on, they aren’t made anymore but there’s plenty about
It’s going to need a footman (connects the treadle with the drive wheel.) Not a problem though. A long wooden paint stirrer (one for a 5 gallon bucket of paint) works well in a pinch.
Could you get closer pictures of the Mother-of-All? Like this:
I’m not seeing a bobbin on it and that could be a problem.
Also, that long knob on the back of the table, does it turn? If it does, turn it all the way out and remove the Mother-of-all and take pictures of it, like this:
and this:
I just got home from picking up my “new” wheel and took some better pics of it I think it such a cute little wheel;) I know it is missing some things but I am not sure what and I just am hoping that it won’t be too expensive to get the parts. The lady we got it from said that she may have the “thingamabob with yarn on it and some spokes” whatever she means by that is that the bobbin? …she said she will look in the attic and give me a call if she finds it. Well here it is so please let me know what you think everyone as I have no idea what parts I need or how to spin but I want to learn badly!
Does anyone know what the stick thing in the last picture is?
