My first finished project! Monogrammed Baby Blanket

Hi all,

I just wanted to share a pic of my first finished project. Yeah! It ia baby blanket for my niece, Veronika. Although this is the first project I finished, it is the second project I started. (Still working on the first project I started, which is a shrug). I did not have a pattern for this blanket, I just winged it. For the letter in the center, I printed out a “V” on graph paper and calculated the pattern from that. And yes, the bottom borders are intentionally larger than the top borders–I was trying to be artistic.

Great job. It looks very pretty. I love the V in the center.

No way!! That is the first project you’ve finished?? It is fantastic!! You did a great job!!!

That’s your first finished project!!!??? Amazing! It’s beautiful, and the colors look fabulous together.

That is the most original pretty baby blanket I have ever seen my brother is going to have a baby any day(you know what I mean) and I would like to make a blanket for him or my toddler and I just can’t decide what to do.

Wow, that is impressive work for a first project!! :inlove: :inlove:

Congratulations!!

I love the colors!!

That’s adorable!! Great colors too!

Thats your FIRST FO???

That is beautiful!! You should be very proud of it.

Looks like you’ve been knitting for YEARS. It’s beautiful! Keep knitting!

You “winged it” quite well!

The inital came out perfectly.

When I was in art school, we always cut the bottom of the matts for drawings and watercolors wider than the top.

Very nice  I’m impressed!

That is just beautiful!!

That IS very nice!! What yarn did you use? Are the pink and gray edges a moss stitch? It looks very fancy… would love to see a pattern!!

WOW!!! That’s gorgeous! I can’t believe that’s your first FO. Great job!

I love that. You are a DESIGNER. This is proof.

Thanks to all for the kudos! It gives me a lift!

The yarn is Caron Simply Soft from Wal-Mart. The pink and grey are in double moss stitch. I wish I had written out a pattern before I sent it off! Maybe I can find my notes still lying around. The “V” I patterned using a graph paper image on my computer, and superimposed the V on it.

He he. THANKS for that comment! I did study graphic design, and find myself wanting to design some more knitted items.

:?? I have been looking for a way to put monograms or other simple shapes onto some garter stitch square swatches (I’m going to seam them up and make bean bags for my toddler to use as a bean bag toss game)

Does anyone know of a good website or book that I can do something like this monogram- letter-graphing-design miracle thingy shown in the GORGEOUS baby blanket???

Thanks in advance…

Great job on the blanket! Very impressive!!
