So, I only cast on 110, because when I measured the part of my head I wanted it to go around, it’s at most 23inches. Then, I had done a swatch, my gauge looked ok, so I was off…but after just 7 repeats of the short rows, it looked pretty wide, so instead of finishing the 15, I started on the increases. I must have been knitting a lot looser on those. Instead of a cool pointed oval shape, I have a smile looks almost exactly the shape of this guy’s smile ----> I went ahead and bound off just to see for sure. Yeah, it’s a wreck. I don’t think it’s wearable I guess I can frog it back, but now what if I try again?
One thought - I cast on pretty tightly. The directions said to bind off loosely, so I grabbed a 6.5mm crochet hook and did a single crochet cast off. Could the different between those be causing some of my issue?
Ok, don’t mind me…they didn’t mean THAT loose of a bindoff obviously! Just frogged back the bind off, did my normal bindoff, and, hey, look! A pointy oval shape! :teehee:
Not long, a couple hours (started yesterday evening, constant kid interruptions, finished today, un-bound, re-bound off). It’s fairly quick if you don’t mind short rows (I find them fun!) I think the worst part was counting to 110 while I cast on
I think I will take more of that same yarn along and see what happens if I cast on looser (I had cast on one needle size up, but darn that cast on edge still looks so tight!) I think I’d do it on 2 needles at once next time. Now I just need to find my “regular” sewing needles and put a button on.
