Multiple colors on one row

I am knitting a sweater that has multiple colors - knitted squares – on one row. I do not like the look of the first and last stitch of the color changfe in each block, they do not look as even as the other stitches. Any suggestions?

Squares on one row? A pattern link would help visually.

When you use multiple colors in a pattern it’s generally done with fair isle or intarsia. Large blocks of color are usually knitted flat using the intarsia method and fair isle is a much smaller design to add color and patterns.

Which are you doing?

There are videos for both intarsia and fair isle color changes under the Free Videos tab at the top of the page, Advanced Techs. Often the sts at the color change are a little looser than you might like but much of that evens out when you block the piece.

I’m not sure if this video will help you in changing colours, but, maybe it will. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtDGR2NM9-Q
