I’m knitting a sweater with 5 colors of stripes of different widths. The pattern says “When making stripes, carry the yarn along the side of the work, twisting and wrapping the yarns every other row to secure them as you go along.” Logically, that makes sense to me, but when I’m carrying a twisted mass of 5 worsted-weight yarns, it gets pretty bulky! However, I tried cutting the yarn and using duplicate stitch to weave, but that’s just bulky in another way, and doesn’t look good (the weave is very tight–using #4 needles). Any ideas, or is carrying the yarn just the lesser of two evils?
Actually, it turned out really cute. The seams were a bit fatter than usual, but it didn’t really seem to matter in the end. Wish I’d taken a picture! Good luck
