Multi Color Cast On

I have come across a baby blanket pattern with intarsia(Well actually duplicate stitch but I want to do it in intarsia).

Here is the pattern:

I need to cast on colors in this pattern:

23 A, 1 B, 23 A, 1 B, 23 A, 1 B, 23 A, 1 B, 23 A.

If I am wanting to do the long tail cast on than how can I accomplish this so that I don’t have completely separate cast ons with separate slip knots but rather 1 single multi color cast on?

Will I have to use the knitted cast on for this?

You would need to do this with 4 separate butterflies or balls of yarn B. Here’s a video for a multicolor long tail cast on that may help.

You wouldn’t hold color B along with A from the beginning but introduce B where needed. Yarn A would be carried across the single B cast on sts.
What if you cast on with A throughout and add B in on row 2? The edge is going to form part of the seam when you pick up sts for the border anyway.
