Moving from size 10 to 10.5

I bought a pack of Susan Bates Crystalite needles some time ago.

I HATE them!!! :grrr: Every time I’ve used a set they’ve broken. Unfortunately, for now they are (were) the only size 10s I have (had). I was half way through an afghan block when my right needle broke mid row :hair: Thankfully only one stitch dropped and I saved it thanks to a safety pin. Now I’ve moved all the stitches from the broken needle onto a 10.5 needle and my question is how will this move up in size affect my gauge for the rest of my block? Unfortunately, I can’t get another set of size 10s until my next paycheck on the 15th. (It seems my whole life revolves around my mid month paycheck)

It will add perhaps 1 more stitch for every 4 inches ((I think))

It might, and it might not make that much difference. I’ve experimented with going up and down a size and it affects the rows more than it does the sts. Why don’t you knit up some of the yarn separately on the 10½s and see?

:figureditout: Thanks Suzeeq! Oi vai! That was one of those “hey why didn’t I think of that” moments!
