Been trying to do this for weeks. I need to transfer motif, to chart, to the front of a knitted sweater. I dont have a pc only an android phone can anyone help me. I’m tearing my hair out.
Motif to sweater
How complicated is the motif, and how good are you at sketching? The only solution I can think of without using a computer is to transfer by hand to knitter’s graph paper. I’m not sure if there’s an app for a phone that you could use (I’m thinking the motif will very likely be too big to easily knit from the phone screen).
Hi,
Thanks for your advice. It’s a circle, quite large with a face in the middle it’s a business logo, the face bit is not very detailed and it’s two colours over the background colour but as I get so far along it starts going out of proportion
Could you maybe understand a chart jn ravelry that is the right size for a sweater and use it as a guide so that you get the right number of stitches to rows to make a circle that doesn’t go out of proportion.
This is not ideal but just one I came across, just an idea
I wonder if this app would work for you. You can apparently try it on a limited basis to see if you like it.

An alternative is to download knitting graph paper and free hand draw your design on the paper.
or you can use a spread sheet.
I tend to free hand designs on graph paper.
The “why” has been unanswered.
Your gauge has two numbers: stitch count for a measure across a row and row count for the same measure vertical up a garment.
That means squares in a grid will most likely appear as short and wide rectangles when knit. A circle on a square grid becomes an oval (short in rows) when knit.
Can you name the company logo here?
And give your gauge sts and row counts?
Thank you so much for your help will try these out and see which one works best.
What do you think about duplicate stitch instead I have toyed with the idea but I dont know if it would be suitable over a large area
You’re right to question duplicate stitch over large areas. I like it over small motifs but find it too bulky over larger areas. You’re essentially adding another layer by stitching over the knit fabric.
If you have smaller areas inside the main design or letters, duplicate will work well.
