Most projects at once?

Since I joined this board, I’ve gotten really excited about all kinds of new patterns and new knitting techniques. Today I started a swatch for my other girlfriend’s baby blanket, and I started something in the round that will either be a sock or a preemie hat, depending on when I get tired of knitting it. Last night I started a scarf for St. Patricks day for me, and I’m about 3/4 of the way done with my first baby blanket.

So that’s four projects at once, assuming I don’t cast on for something else soon. :rofling: And I’ve only been knitting for a month! What’s the most amount of projects you’ve had on the needles at once? Now, what’s the most projects that you’ve had on the needles and been actively working on at once? (I’m assuming that more than one project has lain inactive for months with some people here…)

Right now I have 4…and I do have some socks on needles that I haven’t touched in a long time…

I find I have less than I used to. I always felt distracted, knowing I had too many going. I do have one that can be considered inactive, two sweaters, one just about done–need to look for the buttons I bought  , one that needs a few more inches of body. I have a scarf that I carry around, too. The list of “I’m gonnas” is out of control, though!

Right now I only have two projects going. The biggy is a dress for my granddaughter. Must finish it before she grows too big for it when it’s finished.
The other is about half finished: booties for my dining chairs so they don’t scuff the new floor DH just finished laying. Almost 8 booties done, 8 more to go. They make a good project for when I can’t work on the dress. Have to wait until dogs are settled for the evening. The yorkie is likely to jump into my lap and get mud on my project.

After Christmas, I trimmed back. I currently have OTN:

Momstrosity supersize booga bag-tote
Noro sweater.

I plan on starting as soon as momstrosity bag is done:

Malabrigo socks and Noro Silk Garden scarf so I can have portable projects, and then finishing up the Noro sweater.

I then have a whole spreadsheet of projects to start - I did a triage this afternoon to see exactly what I wanted to do in what order!

I find I get cranky if I have too much OTN. I feel like I am getting nowhere fast.

After Christmas I had to take a break lol… I took all the knitted gifts in to WV and came home with 3 people wanting scarves I couldn’t even make myself and it seemed alot of my knitting time disapperead after Christmas now its back and I have my little girl’s Easter dress going, just finished her a sweater that went really fast, I have CO to my son’s sweater, and a sock…

I’m forcing myself to finish some before casting on for more. As recently as last weekend I had seven projects actively going, plus I was trying to spin some yarn. Of those, I finished one complete project (including felting), finished the first of two mittens and added length to my Knitting Olympics project (which is nowhere near getting done). I need more than one thing going b/c I take my knitting everywhere, but not all of my projects are that portable. But I’m really trying to limit myself now so that I can actually finish something and feel that accomplishment.

I think the most I have had OTN was around 7 projects. But now I have less…

I think:

1 sock
1 scarf
half of a blanket
1 easy sock
1 preemie hat

is all I have now, I don’t know though.

I probably have 7 UFO’s that have been abandoned for awhile & 2 that I am currently working on. Gee’s I didn’t think it was that many.

The 2 I am currently working on are 1) a mohair scarf that I ran out of wool for - just bought another skien at the craft market today & 2) a courtelle basic jumper/sweater I am making for my 4 year old son.

I think for me it is good to have a couple of projects, 1 more complicated (by my personal standards as I am a slow learner) for doing when I can concentrate and something really straight-forward and portable for doing while I watch TV or attend a meeting.

As far as the other 6 UFO’s go: 3 are plain scarves I got bored with (2 of them in ugly yarn), 1 is my first ever shrug which I can’t quite figure out how to sew up - dunno if I made a mistake when knitting it but I can’t figure out which way the sleeves go, another is a plain raglan jumper for my daughter which I just have to sew up- can do that easily enough but not in a rush as I know it will be too big for her, another jumper for my daughter where I stuffed up my first attempt ever of knitting a neckband (have sewn the wrong seam) and somehow made the arms too short - they probably will end at her elbows. I also need to finish a mohair jumper I started making for myself about 18 months ago when I first started knitting again - I keep putting it off as I got discouraged by the mess I made of my daughters jumper with the neckband & sleeve. Which is silly seeing as how I have since made other tops for my daughter and a jacket/cardi (no buttons though) for myself that turned out ok.

I tend to be a cautious knitter. In between bigger projects I like to return to scarves for stress-free non-thinking knitting. :waving:

I don’t like to have a lot going on at once. I’m too anxious to finish something, and if I have a lot of projects going I don’t feel like I’m making any progress on any of them. Right now, I have a felted fish on the needles for my son- I haven’t worked on it very much recently- it won’t take me long once I sit down and really work on it, so that’s my goal for this week. I would say that the most I have had going on at once is 3-4 projects. The list of things I’d like to knit, or have yarn for, of course is much, much longer!!

I only have 2 projects going right now. My Dedbbie Bliss sweater and a small blanket for the Compassionate KAL. The list of other potential projects is long, long long…

Well, let’s see…
…currently on the needle and working on it: 3
…currently on the needle and not working on it: 2 or 3
…not really on needles anymore, but not really finished either: 2
…sad Ufo’s that actually just wait to be frogged(or thrown away): 10+

Wow, that’s madness  I never realized I have that many projects that wait for completion, not to mention the Ufo’s! I’m trying to ignore the last ones as much as I can. They are in a big bag savely stored out of sight
I’m mostly have atleast two projects on the needles and I mostly stick to finish them…mostly…
I think I had the most active projects before christmas-about 5 or 6.

Hmm… Most projects at once? Back when I first started knitting I think 3. But stayed at only having 2 at once for a long time. Now the last 6 months sticking to 1 only.

It’s just cuz I don’t like thinking I have others on hold,…then I seem to get nothing done cuz I will work on one more than the other…and it seems it takes forever to complete stuff. It makes me nuts! So 1 at a time makes me feel like I’m completing things. Which is very satisfying. LOL! Plus I don’t have time to work on any more than 1 neway. With my surfing the net (addiction #2), homework w/ the kids, housework, etc.

So there u have it. LOL Lately I’ve had sock addiction.  There so portable, and fun to do. Simple. :inlove:

KNITBIT :XX:

OTN: Socks (only) LOL! :roflhard:

I’m currently knitting at different times of the day, and in different rooms of the house and in waiting rooms or the car, the second sock, a big bag to be felted and used to carry around knitting, a baby sweater, and my grandson’s sweater for his birthday. Hmmmm it doesn’t seem so bad as I thought! Of course there are also unfinished quilting projects too… and some sewing I need to get at… arghhhh. Now it’s beginning to look unmanageable! samm

I can’t knit something new until I finish what I’m working on, so my answer is ONE! 'Tis a curse and a blessing to be such an AN*L personality.

One time I started a new project before I stitched up part of my prior project (I just didn’t feel like blocking and seaming) and it totally stressed me out! I couldn’t enjoy the new project knowing the last one wasn’t 100% done. Sick, I know…

Yikes! ! I forgot about the other baby sweater that is hanging on the chair in the kitchen in a bag. So how many is that? The front of Will’s sweater is done and I’m almost half way up the back. I’m gainin’ on it! samm

I would have TONS of projects going at once, but DH says I must keep things under control. :rofling: He doesn’t like to find projects all over the house. :roflhard:

So, I only have one knitting project going at a time. But quilting… umm… that’s a different story. I have lots of those projects going.

My best estimates tell me that the most active projects {I knit as well as crochet} I’ve had going {where I’ve worked on them at least once a week} is around 6 or 7… possibly a few more. I can’t count as high as how many UFOs I have {note UFO project in sig line!}. Generally I have 2 or 3 easy-to-grab, relatively brainless projects that I take with me everywhere, and often 1 or 2 on the go at home that need more concentration. So that makes my average about 4 at any one time. Right now I really only have 2 on the go, but that’s because I’m still in KO recovery mode!

Hmmm, what language is this? I believe Ii’ve never hear words like that before. Must be from another planet or something. just kidding I always have to have something going and I always have to have something to bring along with me. I can’t leave the house without some kinds of knitting. yeah I’m a weirdo from that planet.
