Okay I am knitting a scarf and it ends with a moss stitch boarder.
I am assuming it is the US moss as it is a 4 row pattern but I don’t have a clue if it starts with an uneven amount of stitches. So 16 rows in after at least 1 frogging I have two bits that look like ribbing and bits that look like seed .
Starting on the right side row after a purl row the pattern is
K1 P1 yo p1 k1 repeat from * to end 1 st inc’d
K1 P1 ssk k1 * P1 k1 ; rep from to last 2 st , yo P1 k1
K1 P1 yo P1 *k1 P1 * rep to last 2st P1 k1
K1p1 ssk *p1 k1 * rep to last 2 st yo P1 k1
Rep row 1-4 nine times to have 226 st
It is in an interweave magazine so I assume it is ok
I think the edges are messing with me.
,what am I doing wrong
What is the name of the pattern?
You may be putting your knitting down and resuming on the wrong row. It’s a good idea to read your knitting here. Look at the next stitch and the sts on the row below. Let that help you determine if the next stitch is a knit or a purl rather than following the pattern row for the border.
The pattern is called Blake Shawl by a Laura Reinback from a interweave in the fall.
It is done in fingering weight yarn on 3.4mm ( 4) needles.
And the yarn is a bit fuzzy so reading the stitches is tricky but not impossible but
I did not know what to look for with Moss or seed I have not done either be for.
I assumed that the 4 rows ment moss but pattern said seed.
I just did a mock-up in thicker yarn on
large needles with only 18 stitches cast on then one row k st one purl and then the pattern ( with the edges)
And so it seems that it is actually US seed stitch.
And the 4 rows are just to mange the edges and increases,
So now I should be able to manage the knit the purls purl the knits pattern.
I watched a video on moss the difference is clear now it will take a lot of paying attention over 200 stitches.
