There is a wonderful scarf in Margit’s Morehouse Knits book for a diagonal scarf made with variegated yarn. (it’s on Ravelry) I just need to do the end now which squares it off but I’m thinking either it’s a mistake or I’m reading it wrong. (I wrote her twice but haven’t got an answer yet! and I really want to finish this scarf)
Hm I am trying to describe this but giving the whole pattern away.
Does anyone have this book? The problem without stating the whole pattern, is for finishing, the pattern says to k2tog at the end of the row til you have 2 stitches, like when you began (but it was increasing at one end). The thing is, shouldn’t it say k2tog at the one end only? Because if you do it every row, you will decrease each end of the scarf and have a pointy middle instead of just squaring it off. This is simpler than it sounds, but it seems to me it should say k2tog just at one end.
???
Yeah, Suzie, I’m being lazy… I just switched to another project before doing that. It just seems to me I should do the reverse of the beginning if you know what I mean, which would be working on just one end. I suppose I could try what’s written! (patterns have been known to be right once in a while)
Boy am I stupid. Trust the pattern, where did I hear that? (Ingrid)
Anyhoo, Suzieeq, you were so right thank you!!! I swear it just didn’t look right when I started doing what the pattern said, and it didn’t look right for some time then all of a sudden the end was squaring off and it was perfect. gees It’s a beautiful scarf, I’llhave to post a picture…
Yeah, sometimes patterns don’t seem to make sense when we try to visualize them in our head. They usually work out better with the needles and yarn in hand…
