Have just finished another pair of socks. Tried Fleegle heel, easy to knit but not sure I like the shape - will see what it’s like when I wear them. Did moccasin toes but didn’t rotate them as I’m experimenting with different toes - searching for the elusive perfect toe. Knitted toe up taat magic loop. Did ‘Drawn-work’ stitch pattern from Freeknitstitches on instep and front of leg with some ribbing on back of leg. I LOVE socks that hug my feet :happydance:
Those are beautiful! The pattern is really nice and I love the colour of the yarn, what make is it?

I love those socks has a real irish feel to them. I am a beginner knitter is this pattern available anywhere or this its too ambitious yet to consider.
The yarn is from Bendigo Woollen Mills, 8ply.
Thanks, the basic pattern I use is Liat Gats pattern. I just add a stitch pattern that I like. Socks aren’t really all that difficult and Liat has youtube videos on most steps, plus you have all us here to help also, go for it.
Thanks lorraine, I am at scarf level at the moment but have more of a need for socks! Thanks for the point in the right direction so many helpful video and people online! As a guy this knitting this isn’t half bad way to relax!
I thought you were going to say that, I remembered after I posted that you’re in Australia.
If it’s any help I went from dish cloths to socks with only a failed scarf in-between! Since then I’ve knit a proper scarf, some fingerless mitts and a couple of cowls but not much else, socks rule in my world! :woot:
Don’t be afraid to have a go, lots of folks here who can help and encourage. And there’s lots of free and fantastic patterns on Ravelry and other places, plus self patterning yarn that looks like complicated fairisle but isn’t. When I first started I knit plain vanilla socks with either self striping or self patterning yarn, so I didn’t get bored, until I was happy with the techniques and was confident with what I was doing. After that I moved on to simple patterns and now I do cable and lace socks and more complicated things. The good thing about knitting is that there is always something new to do or learn, you’ll never be without something to cast on or a pattern you’d like to try.

All of my slippers/socks so far have lacked in the fit department. To put it mildly!
