MoniDew's Husband's Gone Topsy-Turvy!

Progress report on the topsy turvy:

Showing the photophilic tendency so many describe. Many also stated that they needed daily watering, but I believe the root end is showing that it’s been overwatered. I’m going to skip a day in between and see if this improves.

Also, this plant is smaller and not nearly as sturdy as the tomatoes planted in traditional fashion in my regular bed. Overall, I don’t think this product is really beneficial. Poor hubby - he was so excited about it!

Well, there’s nothing new under the sun! BUT we just have to try all these new gadgets, don’t we?!? LOL.

In hindsight I think the plants in the ground also benefit from the cooler and moister soil than what’s hanging and in full sun. So though you think it might have been over-watered, it might be a hard thing to balance.

What about poking holes all over it and planting strawberry plants in the holes??

I thought my mom was nuts for planting her tomatos in these. Here are going crazy. She reports that she had the earliest tomoto ever. I will try and get at picture next time I there.

A home I work in has one. The tomato plant is doing very well. Gets a lot of sun being on the south side of the house. No fruit yet, but I’m sure it will.

I think the reason this did so poorly is because the water sinks to the bottom, thus you have ALL that dirt in which the roots could potentially grow but the roots go where there’s water. So you end up with a small plant.

Perhaps some sponges to hold water higher up in the container might help with that.
