Monica from Knitty

this pattern was the first piece of clothing that I made. I love it, but I know it could be done in the round, but I don’t know how to convert patterns to the round. Could someone help me? I really want to make this again for my other granddaughter…

Oh, you can do this; it’ll be pretty simple.

For just the front, you cast on 53 (assuming you’re doing the smallest size. Since the back is identical, cast on 106. Now, you’d use up 2 stitches on each side for seaming, so maybe you should take off 4 stitches and cast on 102. Join in a circle and knit around and around til it’s the length you need.

For the ruffle, you’d case on 104, so double that to do front/back. Same deal, take off 4 stitchs for the seaming you won’t have to do so cast on 204.

Mirl is exactly right. I did Maddi’s in the round, sure saves alot of time, I think…
