I just got the 2nd Cat Bordhi book last week! I am pumped to get into these! I want to make a bed and the needle holders for starters!

Thanks everyone. I am having so much fun knitting and seeing everyone else wonderful projects. The patterns are from Cat Bordhi’s 2nd book, The Second Treasury of Magical Knitting. The blue bowl is not a cat bed. Its one of the bowls minus the fringe. That yarn, Wool in the Woods, 50% llama and 50% wool was a dream to work with.
I have to be honest, I dont think I would ever make a cat bed from this book. Even though I find the cast on to be easy now, thats a heck of a lot of work for a cat bed :XX: . 200 some CO stitches which turn into 400, seems tedious for a cat bed. I even have 3 cats, so its not because I dont like cats. And my XL cats would just squish the pretty twist in the rim anyway :doh: I found several patterns where you start at the bottom of the cat bed with DPNs and work your way up.

Cindy (or anyone who knows), I really have to ask a question, please.
I am in love with the Easter basket you made. I found the book that you mentioned and quickly went through it. None of the baskets I saw looked like your Easter basket? Did you alter one of the patterns? It looks like you used some sort of novelty-type yarn. Does this mean you did not felt the basket? How then is it so sturdy and shaped?

Hi, I did felt the Easter basket. It’s modeled after the “moss basket”. I used Cascade 200 and Crystal Palace’s Fizz ( i love this stuff…it as great colors)
I stuffed it with fiberfill while it was drying, and removed it every so often to fluff the fizz. I used balloons for the other baskets.
I am a new knitter. I had knitted 2 simple pillows before doing these baskets. I was determined to figure it out.
Between the instructions, pictures and hands on with the needle and yarn, even I understood what to do. Its a breeze now. I constantly look at the instructions and actual knitted piece with the thought…“I dont know what to do , but what is the most logical thing to do with what I have.” Its not as cryptic as I thought it would be.
I am making a purple one now. :XX:
