Modified Irish Hiking Scarf

Some of you may have seen the Irish Hiking Scarf pattern online.
I have had this on my needles for WAY too long, and I finished it tonight at a knitting group meeting up here in NJ. :cheering:

The reasons I titled this “modified”:

  • I did the cables backwards (not because I’m clever, just because I didn’t read the pattern right); they twist right instead of left
  • I didn’t use a cable needle (not because I dislike them, this was just the first project I did after reading this site)
  • I made it in 2 colors (not because I have any design skills, but because I bought the yarn at a time when I didn’t know better about getting just one skein)

I love it though, and I’m so glad it’s done!
Yarn: Paton’s Classic 100 % merino
Needles: US 8 (5mm)

:inlove: i LOVE it (not because it’s fabulous, because youmade it!!!)

:roflhard:

Good one! Thanks darling! :muah:

That’s beautiful! What lesson?

It’s Gorgeous!

…that if you’re not sure about the yardage you need, better get an extra skein! :teehee:

beautiful!! and it looks so warm and soft…

That’s lovely!!! :inlove:

I’ve been doing my cabling without a needle lately. It’s so much faster, and I don’t seem to pull the stitches so far out of shape.

How do you do that??? :??

Very nice!! OMG - no cable needle?? You go girl!!! :happydance:

Loverly, Marce!!

And yes, how are you cabling with no cable needle–just leaving the stitches off the needle? I’ve tried doing that, but it freaks me out too much. :teehee:

looks lovely
