Moby Sweater back yoke confusion

Hello!

I am making another Moby Sweater.

I am up to row 30 of the back yoke (knitting size L), and have begun working double moss stitch on sts past the main yoke according to the chart, however - the sts on either side are assymetrical.

On one side, I have 11 stitches past the st marker (between both st markers is the charted pattern), and the other has 27 sts past the sm.

From this row on, all sts not charted are to be worked in double moss stitch, but inevitably this is going to be misshapen? one side longer than the other?

I have made this sweater before, and struggled a bit at this section but seem to have gotten past it - can someone help me figure out where I’ve gone wrong? I have the correct amount of sts (110), and have worked the charted pattern.

Below is the pattern section I’m referring to and my work so far - really need new pairs of eyes on this as I cannot figure it out ! Thanks in advance…

as I have the correct amount of sts, do I have it right and it just looks odd?

I don’t know this pattern but based on what you’ve said, it being uneven, I’d say you’ve probably gone wrong somewhere. The chart and cables need to be central.

Can you look back up your rows and check you slipped 39 (4th size I think his is the st count) before working the chart in the centre and until there are 39 remaining on the left needle. With there being 39 unworked each side, followed by even short rows, everything points to needing the cables to be central.

At least you caught it now. It’s a reminder to us all to stop and look what we are knitting.

Thank you for your response! I have realised that I made a very glaring error and neglected to repeat the middle cables 3x each row, hence the discrepancy in stitches.

Such a simple mistake and I was really mulling over it!

I’ve made this sweater before and am close to making another. Glad you found your mistake (you’re correct that it should be symmetrical). It’s one of those very dense patterns where every word counts and it’s easy to miss a direction. Beautifully written but lots of detail.
Love the color you’re using!

Good to hear you’re back on track. It’s going to be a great sweater.
