Mobuis Scarf

I’ve found an easy mobius scarf to work on as a gift. I understand the pattern except one sentence. The pattern states “ Cast on 90 sts. Join and work in rnds, making sure there is 1 twist in the sts, marking beg on rnd. I am not clear how to do ‘1 twist in the st’. I am referring to my knitting handbook. I would like to confirm to twist a sts when knitting, I will do ‘knit-back’ and wrap the yarn under or purl-back to twist the stitch on a purl row. Can you please let me know if I am on the right track?

It doesn’t mean to knit/purl through the back loop, not that kind of twist. You know how circular knitting says `join stitches without twisting them’ on the needle? With this pattern, you make sure there’s one twist. Lay out your needle with the cast on stitches all neat and lined up without a twist. Then take the first stitch on the left needle and twist it around the needle. That’s your twist.

I tried it to see if it works and it does, though it’s not a true mobius which has only one edge. This way produces 2 edges. See the Moebius thread - http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21899&highlight=

That depends…

Do you knit IN the mobius? Or twist and join at the end…??

It’s the free pattern at the Creative Knitting site, the Ridged Mobius -

As I said, it’s not a true mobius because it has definite CO and BO edges.
