Mixing yarn types

is this advisable?
The sweatshirt I’m doing is an denim-style by bernat and i wanted the contrast stripe to be a solid blue. All HL had today that matched was a Wool by Lion. I got, but am not sure I should mix the different contents. HELP! :??

I’m no expert, but I think you’d have to be sure that both were compatible for washing at least. A sweatshirt sounds like it should be washable…is the wool superwash or will it felt? Although a felted trim may look cool it may not be the look you were going for. I’m sure someone will respond who knows more.

I would say that if the gauge matches, and the care instructions are the same, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Fabric Care Instructions
More about yarn care symbols…

Hand wash in in cool or warm water; dry flat and not by machine. Do not bleach or iron

well it looks like your gauge is different on those so you may have to change needle size to make them look uniform but i mix yarn types all the time. i think it makes for cool texture. but if you are looking for uniformity…might not want to mix.

okay, thanks ya’ll. I’ll probably try it and if it doesn’t look right, I’ll find something else. I can always handwash the garment since the wool requires that.
