Mitten sides are uneven

I am making mittens, which can be found here:

I am on the gusset increases part. It says:
MC: K1, inc, k2, inc, k13 W&t
P18 W&t
Following the MC and CC rows pattern increase gusset until MC palm
section measures 24 sts (12 sts between markers)
P 24 W&t

I have done this, but now my MC side is much taller than my CC side! It then says to work up height, but I looked at it and it won’t do anything for the unevenness. Help!

Thank you!

Are you continueing the CC section at the same time that you’re working the MC and gusset section? You should have similar lengths in both sections.

I haven’t because the pattern hasn’t said anything about it. How should I work the CC part?

Under Gusset inc there’s this
"Following the MC and CC rows pattern increase gusset until MC palm section measures 24 sts (12 sts between markers)"
That’s where they’re saying to continue with the MC and CC rows. Do them the same way that you had been, with the short rows and w&t.

So the CC pattern that was in the body part of the pattern?

Yes, that’s the hedgehog loop part of the pattern, the back of the hand.
