Not sure where to ask my question. My name is Tricia. Need help with mitered edge borders I need to add to my blanket. It just says pick up odd number of stitches do i pick up the exact amount on cast off and bind off sides and the edges? 167 cast on and 210 edge is the number. I know how to do it but thought you pick up less stitches Not sure why i think that. But instructions just say pick up an odd number of stitches. That is it/. Any one can help me on this please.

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
Usually you won’t pick up one for one but instead use ratios of 3sts for 4 rows or 2sts for 3 rows depending on the stitch pattern.
Ok I get the rows but what about the across. The cast on edge and the bind off edge is that one to one?
Design by MelissaLeapman and pattern is a baby blanket warm bundle
I’d go with the same number on cast on and bind off edes and see how it works. If you’re using different size needles it could matter. When I knit a sweater I pick up one for one on cast on edges for the neck and 3:4 for bands along row ends.
If it’s a large blanket you might try a section as a sort of swatch, a decent length of one edge, around a corner and along part of the next edge. If you work some rows you’ll get to practise the corner and see if the pick up stays nice and flat without puckering or flaring.
1:1 on cast on and bind off edges and 3:4 on row ends is a good start to try.
Does it say anything about the corners? This might effect where you put the stitches in/near the corners.
That’s a stunning lace pattern.
Usually picking up 2-3sts at the corner into the same corner stitch is enough to keep the ribbing flat at that corner turn for a continuous edging.
Here’s one way to work a mitered corner on a blanket. Your pattern may have different directions.
