"Mitered Cuff" Sock Help

Hi everyone.

I wanted to knit my friend a pair of socks, so decided to do Knitty’s Cut Your Teeth Socks. I finished making the squares, and joined them , and am now on the “Upper Row of Cuff” part.

But I just don’t understand what I’m supposed to do. I have all the stitches that I should have picked up (following the diagram), but really don’t get what “pick up 1 st in peak of middle-row square and 10 sts along the left side of one square in the middle row” means.

Please, do help

You’ve already done the bottom row of squares and then picked up along the bottom row using the diagram as a guide for the middle row of squares. You’ve knit the middle row of squares and now you’re going to pick up the upper row of cuff. You pick these sts up in a way similar to the diagram: pick up 1 st in peak of middle-row square and 10 sts along the left side of one square, pick up 1 st in peak of bottom-row square (this is the same as the “valley” of the middle squares where the bottom square touches). Pick up 10 sts along the right side of the adjoining square in that same row and pick up 1 st in peak of that square. You can use the diagram as a guide here too. The directions that follow are for the half squares that form the upper row on the cuff.

OHHH. So I’m supposed to repeat the square pattern for every 23 stitches as I pick up the sts? That part should be in bold or something.
Thanks, you reeeally helped me clear it out  (this will actually be like the third time I rip out this part)
