I am 4 inches away from finishing a baby blanket, and I just realized I misread directions, and the beginning cast on row does not include the 6 rows of seed stitch for the border. I really do not wish to rip out the entire blanket and start over. Should I just not add the six rows at the end, and just do a cast off? Is there a way to add the six rows of seed stitch at the beginning? So disappointed in myself for not having read more carefully. There is a seed stitch border on the sides.
If you rip out the cast on and then knit into the opposite direction the resulting stitches will be at a half stitch offset. This will be visible in the side borders, so you could knit a small test piece and see if you think it is OK.
If the border is not curling and looking okay without the seed stitch I would probably leave it as it is and just consider it as a “design” element.
