NECK:
Cast on 80-88-88-104-104-112 stitches with circular needle.
The beginning of the round is the right back shoulder. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm. Insert 1 marker after the first 40-44-44-48-48-52 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here.
If I count 40 sts I’m not at mid center. I end up at left front raglan area. Help!!
Midnight Glow by Drops. # 254-39
Yes, there’s 40sts between the right back shoulder and the left front shoulder. Later in the pattern the directions have you place markers for the raglan seams. Those directions give you the numbers that you need to figure out the mid-front.
Sixteen sts each sleeve and 24sts back and front. That puts mid front at 12sts. Plus the 16 sleeve sts means that mid-front is 28sts from the right back shoulder (not 40sts).
Classic and very pretty pullover.
I have 8 rows of the yoke to get to 240 sts. I measure from the center bottom edge of the neck ribbing. (8 3/4inch). Then the pattern says to continue without increases to 8 3/4 inches. Do I knit another 8 3/4 inches? This is confusing to me.
These increases are going to take more than 8 rounds to get to 240sts.
Starting with 80sts you increase either side of the raglan seam 8 times (every other round or 16rounds). That’s 80+64=144.
Then increase every other round on the front and back, 16 times (4x16=64)
Increase every 4 round on the sleeves 8 times (4x8=32).
144+64+32=240
All these rounds may get you to 8 3/4 inches. If not continue knitting until you reach 8 3/4 inches total from that mid-front marker. It’s not another 8 3/4 inches but 8 3/4 inches total in this yoke. You can see that noted on the left side in the schematic.
Thank you for explaining clearer.
