I am after some DK weight wool that gives a tension of 22 sts and 24 rounds per 4 inch in stranded colourwork. The instructions ask for the wool to measure 45m per 20g. The pattern is called Honeydukes Jumper by Meghan Regan. I was wondering if a wool called Double Sunday (21 - 20 Stitches =10cm, 108m) would be suitable for this project?
I am aware that my own personal tension will have an impact too. I have been on Yarn Sub but I took a liking to Double Sunday by Sandnes Garn.
That yarn shoud work but of course the best way to tell is to knit a swatch. Then you can decide on the gauge and drape of the knit fabric
The yarns used in the pattern both list as 22sts/4" stockinette and so does the Double Sunday (21-22sts/4"). Both yarns are close to the same weight/yard.
The 45m per 20g is for mini-skeins for the colourwork.
The main yarn, which seems to be the same base but in bigger skeins, is 233m per 100g.
compared to
108m per 50g, which is 225m per 100g.
Nice and close.
Only other consideration is that Double Sunday is handwash only. No effect on gauge really (although a swatch will tell that for sure), just your preferance.
I have been keen to try Sunday yarn too. I like the colours and happen to prefer non-superwash.
