Men's Andoa Sweater

Hi - I’m just about to make the Andoa sweater by Berroca. In the instructions for the gauge it says

“20 st = 4”; 26 rows = 4" in Pat Sts on size 8 needles"

The pattern stitches are a multiple of 6. How do I make this swatch?

Very good looking sweater. The pattern would like 20sts/4inches in both pattern stitches. Cast on 24sts or 30 sts and work in one pattern for about 4 inches and then the second for about 4 inches. Measure the stitch gauge across the middle 4 inches of the knit fabric. That should give you a good idea of stitch gauge.
You can measure after working about 4 inches of one pattern and see if you’re close to gauge or if you need to adjust the needle size. If necessary, change needle size and knit the swatch again and then see what you get in the second pattern stitch.

Thanks Salmonmac,

Since the basket weave pattern is a multiple of 6 stitches I added 2 more at the end to = 20 stitches across. It seemed to work out and my gauge was 4 inches!

I appreciate you help.
