Measured from Heel Flap?

I’m making my very first sock and I’ve managed to turn the heel! YAY! I was very proud of myself:happydance: BUT - now, after getting back to where I started (same # of stitches as originally on each of the 3 needles) the pattern says:
“knit in plain rounds until foot, measured from HEEL FLAP, is 6.5” or 1.75" less than desired foot length"

Okay - does that mean the point where the heel turns a 90 degree angle (bottom of heel)? or where I started the heel (back of heel)?

I’m knitting with tofutsies and loving the feel as well as the colors - I just want it to fit when it’s done! Oh, and yeah, maybe I’ll make one for the other foot as well!

From where your heel is (not where you began the sock flap higher up on back of heel). They’re saying that the decreases take up 1.75 inches, so knit until 1.75 inches shorter than your foot, then do the decreases, to get a sock the right foot length. Remember that you probably want the length to fit your foot just slightly stretched, not entirely relaxed.
