Me again 😂 Sneakiest way to hide a decrease?

Sorry, starting to feel a bit embarrassed about how much help I ask for on here now!

I’ve made some progress on my cowl but I’ve managed to add to extra stitches on each side. I know where I did it and it was really close to the start so basically I’m just doing damage control rather than start again again. Where would you recommend I decrease? This triangle part will soon be joined up to knit in the round. I was wondering if I carried on with the extra stitches for the last part (I think I have 6 increase rows to go) and then just didn’t do the last 2 M1L and M1Rs if that would be the best way?

Also, sorry about the dreadful photo. The light in here at night is awful for taking pictures!

Your knitting is beautiful. I think you can skip some increases to get your count right. I wouldn’t do them consecutively if I didn’t have to. Skip an increase, work the next, skip another is what I’m thinking. If you don’t have enough rows to alternate increase rows and no increase rows it should still work fine. IMO If you’re not doing the colorwork (that’s how it looks to me) the different count might not even matter.

Thanks so much once again! I’ve attached another pic of the cowl because I realise the bit that I’m working on isn’t shown in the first picture! Just finishing up the block stripes before I start the colour work :crossed_fingers:

No need for apologies or to feel embarrassed! Just keep asking. The thing that makes forums enjoyable to visit and join in on is the active community. If no one asks questions it all gets quiet and fizzles out, like sitting in a cafe, in silence, on your own, with a weak coffee. Much more fun to have a buzz of chatter and share ideas, I love seeing what other people are making and I learn a lot from the active posts whether I will ever make that pattern or not.

I think missing the final increases would reduce the stitch count and make this section a bit shorter which is probably not crucial with is being cowl, or you could work the final rows straight to get the length without increasing the width.

I also think that it will be quite acceptable to decrease the stitch count almost anywhere (although not all in one spot) as the cowl will be gathered and layered when worn so a couple of decreases will not be super noticable spread across a mid row which in any case will end up hidden.
I’ve noticed with many colour work patterns the stitch count can change between each/every stripe of motif due to there needing to be some number fewer or extra to make each motif fit the item, with this in mind it would be fine really to just decrease evenly across a round in any of the plain rounds following the joining, either the joining round itself or those few following it in the main colour.
